Quality handcrafted: My goal is to create a stunning yet beautiful  piece of furniture that can enhance or compliment any decore whether it be in the office, home or business.  There are so many selections to choose from, that sometimes the hardest thing to do is to make a decision as to which one is right for you.  These furnishing are in the format of a clock that expresses the utmost beauty natural wood graining can bring. I personally select the most beautiful exotic or domestic wood available and then custom handcraft each and every piece. The quality workmanship and artistic expression are a matter of great pride to me, as each and every clock is made with an attention to detail which gives them an impeccable fit and finish. The exotic wood used in making these mantel clocks is neither stained nor is there any coloring added to the wood, instead; each clock is in its own natural color. The wood is then meticulously hand sanded and then preserved with a hand rubbed satin polyurethane finish.

Inlays are a specialty of mine and are often featured in contrasting woods.  Each clock comes with a description of the name of the wood and the country of origin.  The woods are carefully chosen after sorting literally through thousands of board feet of lumber from several suppliers.  I look for graining and colors that express a certain beauty, flow, and artistic impression.  A great deal of time and effort are taken in coordinating the various species of wood.  This is where, I believe, the talent of my unique creativity and artistic expression exists.  Every clock has at least two different woods species (sometimes three or more) that come from around the world.  Each wood is carefully chosen and then matched with another to enhance their characters which in turn, creates a beauty that is rarely seen, let alone packaged in such a practical and useable format.  These exotic wood mantel clocks can be proudly displayed in your home or office, or they make great gifts for any number of special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, retirements, graduations, birthdays, recognitions,  or practically anything.  How often have you thought about what to get someone that is unique, or “one of a kind” that is sure to please?  Each exotic wood mantel clock is hand sanded and then, as mentioned above, preserved with a silky smooth hand rubbed polyurethane finish to protect and enhance the beauty of each work of art.  Lastly, the clock itself is a 4 3/8 inch premium quartz insert that fits like a glove.  They are assembled in the USA, using a German quartz movement, a solid brass diamond cut bezel (an optional black bezel may be available) and a curved glass lens.  They operate on a small “N” size battery (unless otherwise specified) that can be easily purchased at most retail outlets.

Specifications:  All the exotic wood mantel clocks are an original design that feature the unique beauty of the wood and were years in the making and have been continually refined until what is here today.  There are some modest variations in size, but each clock is roughly just under 12 inches in height, 10 1/2 inches wide at the base and are 5  1/2 inches or less in depth.  Each clock is enclosed in the back and each are individually autographed (see products and pricing), plus they have an engraved brass name plate carrying my business name with phone and email address.  In addition, I note the species of woods used along with their origin.

About myself:  I’ve been involved in the design and craft of woodworking for well over 30 years, originally as a hobbyist and eventually making furniture items for friends and family using the standard woods like oak, maple, walnut and cherry.  I began making cabinets and small furniture items for other people as well and eventually saw an opportunity to sell items at a local artisan market making things as mirrors, magazine racks, mantel shelves, serving trays, etc.  The quality of my workmanship was always excellent, however; the fact that the products were made of standard domestic woods, and although appealing, weren’t different or exciting.   I unexpectedly came upon some spalted maple.  It was a spectacular and expensive piece of wood and much of it was unusable because of advanced decay.  I decided to purchase it anyway and came up with a plan to feature as much of the beauty of the wood in a design as possible in the format of a mantel clock.  As it turned out, this particular piece of spalted maple was indeed rare as I’ve had difficulty finding another piece as beautiful.  That being said, I sold the clock and several others almost as fast as I could make them.  Since that time, I’ve come across other types of exotic woods and have become aware that even the same specie of these exotic woods, much like that of spalted maple, vary immensely and are not always available.  I rarely shop for any specific type of wood, but rather go into the wood suppliers stores and look for exotic wood species that have character, grain, and colors that are rich in appearance and full of expression and beauty.   Today, I have quite an abundant array of some of the most incredible exotic woods that one can find and I am truly excited about them.  Even more exciting, is matching and mating the species with other exotic and domestic woods to create, what many have called, a work of art and a thing of beauty unmatched anywhere.  I truly believe, that once you have one of these works of art, you will see it as an expression of your own taste and character and be proud to display it anywhere, in fact; you’ll want to show it off.  The most difficult thing for many people, is making the choice that is right for them, since there are so many beautiful clocks from which to pick and choose.  Of course, you can always purchase more than one!!
